About: New Ways Forward
This blog is about the thing behind the thing.
After all, isn’t that what theology is, at its most basic?
It’s our understanding of God, and the Scriptures, and the world around us, and ourselves, and… life.
New Ways Forward exists as a place to discuss faith, scripture, and theology – and the ways they intersect with life. A place where all of us can join in the conversation about the thing behind the thing.
About: Me
I’m a freelance writer/blogger, a publishing consultant, and work at a local bookstore.
Joining me on this crazy adventure of life is my wife, Melinda.
I tend to get obsessively into my pursuits, and at the moment those are are theology, literature, music, direct trade coffee, and a new attempt at home brewing.
Thanks for joining the conversation!

Good stuff, Mason! Excited for you
Your blog tag line makes me think of this quote:
“‘Like’ and ‘like’ and ‘like’–but what is the thing that lies beneath the semblance of the thing?”
– The Waves, Virginia Woolf
Are you a Woolf fan? I love that line and it’s an interesting thought to apply it to theology, too; great.
I’ve not read Woolf yet, I actually adapted it from a phrase Rob Bell is fond of.
