Book Notes: IVP’s Dictionary of the Old Testament Prophets

It looks like IVP has completed its celebrated “Black Dictionary” series with the release of the Dictionary of the Old Testament Prophets.

I’ve only read through a handful of essays so far, but from what I can tell it seems to meet the high standards of the series, and based on the rest of the Black Dictionaries (I have five, and find that I turn to them quite often) I have no doubt this will also be a top-rate addition to anyone’s library.

Below is the publisher’s description. Hopefully I will be able pick up a copy of this one soon!

“A true compendium of recent scholarship, the volume includes 115 articles covering all aspects of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, the twelve “minor prophets” and Daniel. Each book’s historical, cultural, religious and literary background is thoroughly covered, alongside articles on interpretation history and critical method. Pastors, scholars and students will find this a deep resource for their Old Testament studies.”
